Founder/President of Interpreters Plus Biography Since 1985, thousands of clients have turned to Ron Bernal, Founder and President of Interpreters Plus (IP), for their interpreting and translating needs. As one of the most respected and recognized interpreting and translating firms in the United States, this Southern California-based agency has proven to be a leader with clients from law firms and insurance companies to local businesses and blue-chip corporations. IP is a multi-language, full-service interpretation and translation agency, providing 24-hour service via a worldwide network of experienced professionals. Bernal, who is Cuban-born, moved to the United States when he was 10 years old. Fluent in English and Spanish, he began his career as an insurance adjuster handling Hispanic cases. He soon realized that he could lucratively combine his interest in language and cultures with his business sense and, shortly thereafter, Interpreters Plus was born. Among the many long-term clients of IP are film and television studios ; attorneys needing assistance for court hearings, depositions and trials; schools with students of multi-language families; and doctors, hospitals and insurance companies. In addition to maintaining close relationships with clients, IP is unique in that the agency's network of interpreters is able to fulfill any language assignment. From Spanish to Farsi, Russian to Chinese, Italian to Hebrew, and even Sign Language, IP is ready to meet a client's needs anywhere and any time. For example, IP was recently called upon for a rare assignment: finding a translator who was fluent in Mixteco, the nearly extinct language of Oaxaca, Mexico. By tapping into his database of some 300 interpreters, Ron Bernal was able to quickly make a match. IP recently added several additional services including: web design, web site localization (translating of web sites to several languages), desktop publishing, software localization and graphic design. When not helping clients bridge the gap between languages, Bernal, who lives in Van Nuys, California, enjoys other forms of communication. He is an accomplished photographer who favors taking pictures of flowers and the ocean; and he is a musician who plays the piano, the congas and the "Doumbek," an Egyptian hand drum. |
